First Indictment Filed Under Telephone "Pretexting" Statute

A federal grand jury in Cleveland, Ohio, today returned a one count Indictment, charging
Vaden Anderson, age 28, of Bedford Heights, Ohio, with violating the “pretexting” statute.

"pretexting", whereby a data broker or other person represents that they are an authorized consumer and convinces an agent of the telephone company to release the data.
